With over 1,300 employees at the headquarters alone, Haas Automation Inc. maintains an unwavering focus on reliability, cost-efficiency, and performance.
Gene Haas: The Vision Behind the Brand
Gene Haas began by producing programmable rotary tables, but everything changed in 1988 with the launch of the VF-1 Vertical Machining Center. Priced affordably and designed for efficiency, this machine-made high-tech manufacturing accessible to shops of all sizes. His vision still drives innovation at the Haas Automation headquarters, where simplicity and performance go hand-in-hand.
History and Evolution of Haas Automation
The journey of Haas from a small machine tool developer to a global CNC leader is inspirational. Initially focused on rotary products, the company grew rapidly by addressing a critical gap in the market: affordable yet high-performance machining solutions. Through the 1990s and 2000s, Haas expanded its facilities, added advanced capabilities, and launched numerous product lines. The construction of the expansive Oxnard campus solidified the brand’s presence as a cornerstone of American manufacturing.
Product Portfolio at Haas Automation Headquarters
VF Series – Vertical Machining Centers
The VF series is the core of Haas’s lineup, offering models for small shops to large production floors. These machines deliver speed, accuracy, and versatility across a wide range of materials and industries.
ST Series – CNC Turning Centers
The ST series is ideal for turning applications requiring high precision. It features multi-tool capabilities and high torque for heavy-duty operations. Advanced models include live tooling and sub-spindles.
HMCs – Horizontal Machining Centers
Used mainly in mass production, Haas HMCs come equipped with automatic pallet changers, high-speed spindles, and tool changers that allow for continuous, lights-out machining.
5-Axis CNC Machines
These machines allow for complex contouring and simultaneous movement across multiple axes — essential for aerospace, medical, and prototyping applications. The UMC series exemplifies Haas’s commitment to simplifying 5-axis machining.
Rotary Tables and Indexers
Available as add-ons, rotary products from Haas expand any CNC machine into a 4- or 5-axis system. They are known for precision and durability, enabling complex positioning and multi-face machining.
